Over the years, we have recognized the importance of equipping the Year 6 children for the demands of Senior School. Following the great success of last year, we will be repeating our Study Skills Course during the Summer Term.
We shall spend 6 sessions looking at preparation for Senior School and giving the children an introductory course on Study Skills. In particular the lessons will cover:
- Self organisation - We have found, in previous years, that children from state Schools, in particular, have not had experience of a more structured timetable with individual subject areas and the need to be in the right place at the right time with the right kit!
- Revision techniques - We also find that children benefit enormously from some early tips on how to revise (using fun activities and techniques on memory strategies.)
- How we learn – an introduction to recognizing different learning styles and what suits you eg visual, auditory or kinesthetic learners
- Memory strategies
- Mind Mapping
This is a busy and exciting time for Year 6 children so there will be no homework and the sessions will be light and fun in tone.
